Ann Truemper Functional Pottery

Artist Statement
There is something about working with earthenware clay that is like communion with a friend. Every piece of pottery retains energy from my hands that have molded it and guided it through its journey toward a permanent form, capable of giving energy back. This earthenware clay that I form with hollow spaces, energetic colors, and lines that dance is alive. It is important to me that I make pottery using the most basic elements of nature and what we achieve together is joyful, positive, and a part of my soul. I love to make functional pottery that enhances everyday life and contributes to the enjoyment of preparing, serving, and presenting food. What makes my ceramic pieces fun is what they do, not what they say.
